[gelöst] Help confirming previous residence on passenger list

    Hello everyone!

I have an idea of what this may say. Ancestry claims it says Klein Damine which of course can't be right, so I am hoping someone can hopefully help me reading my great grandmothers previous residence on this Hamburg passenger list I have attached.

Her name is Matilda Lentz, its difficult to read the previous place of residence along with whats written in the next column beside it. Hoping someone with better eyesight can read this.

    Thanks in advance!

Eine Anrede, eine freundliche Bitte und am Schluss ein netter Gruß erhöhen die Motivation der Helfer!

    Hi Sophi3:

When posting such a request, please also give a link to where you found the record - the attached image is very difficult to read, but perhaps the original at Ancestry can be enlarged more.

    Regards

Unfortunately I cannot make much sense of the last place of residence either. I'd say that it starts with "Klein D....".

The column next to it is citizenship. It could be that it reads Russld. (=Russland = Russia). If that is the case it could be that the previous residence of Mathilda Lentz is the german name for some place in Eastern Europe that very likely no longer goes by the name written in this document from 1913.

          Hello Sophi3

The person came from Russia !!!
Therefore, we have to look for a German settlement in the Russian Empire
          Viele Grüße

And apparently this Kleindamm is also known as Marxstadt, which would be Маркс today.

                  Hello everyone:

From previous discussion here (https://forum.ahnenforschung.net/sho...d.php?t=234286) we know that Mathilde Lenz was confirmed 1908 in Luzk (in Volhynia, now in Ukraine), and her birth 1893 had probably been nearby.

Is it likely that by 1913 she would have moved much further east to the Volga region?

Unfortunately, the only settlement starting Kle- in the Volhynia region that I see is Klein Karolinka, and that is definitely not what the passenger list says?

                  Regards

I struggle a bit piecing it together but I stumbled upon this link that mentions a Klein Damerau / Dąbrówka Mała and her record on SGGEE says her place of birth was Dombrowka, baptized in Tutchin parish. Could there be a connection there? Link provided below, page 114. But there many that say Dąbrówka and it may not be relevant but I appreciate the help!

btw. right next to Tomaschow was another colony named Dabrowka. And seeing that different villages named "Damerau" were also known as Dabrowka, maybe this is the Klein Damm(erau) in question.
                            ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
