No more news at the moment. just waiting to hear back from Iasi and a couple more records from Vienna. I am gonna have a short trip to Vienna in June so hopefully we will find a few more details by then. the family of my grandfathers mother is a bit more assured and detailed. Marianne Kuh born in Vienna, previously in a relationship with Otto Gross (psychoanalyst) and sister to Anton Kuh a political satirist. The Kuh's originally came from Prague and interestingly were also German writing Jews. Marianne's dad Emil and granddad David wrote and edited German language news papers. My lovely great Aunt Sophie spoke to me about Anton in such glowing terms. To encouraged me to recently reading a bit about him and he was undoubtedly a big character - having public slanging matches with Karl Kraus. I see my families like for ruffling feathers has strong roots :0)
Now you guys have helped me to find out more about the Solomonica's I can see what drew Alexander and Marianne together. I am also starting to have a much better understanding of my family roots so thank you all for your help.

Sorry Juergen and everyone else. I didn't realise the links could not be seen by everyone.
Nice find on familysearch. It always nicer to have the clarity that a form gives.
The tree I found has Bruno and his wife Trude with their child private but we know that is Michael. Then it has a sister called Lala. This could be a nickname for one of the sisters that you have discovered? Then it has a private sister married to Siegmund Werner. It shows they have to children but set as private. It has the dad of Bruno and siblings as N. Solomonica but we know it was Julius and Diane.

Lala must be Sophie as Hedwick married Siegmund. Its great to start filling out the details.

            Site 2 --> https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3....-41?cc=1923888
I do not know if Sophie survived the war (1939-1945)
What does the handwritten memo for Sofie?

In year 1939 she resides in Poland, her mother Diane says, peculiar.

What about Bruno? Bruno Solomonica = Bruno Solby?

            You know?
            United States Deceased Physician:
Card for: Solomonica Julius, died 1956 in N.Y.; age: 82; Uni: Vienna 1901.

            Update:
I see now, you're right, Bruno Solomonica = Bruno Solby.

Sorry, not really news from me.

            best regard
            Juergen

Hi Ursula and Jurgen. I finally got the birth record from Iasi. Lovely handwriting but it makes it difficult to try to translate. I can however see the names Wolf Solomonica, Regina and Zalic :0) I will try to translate it all when I have the time. Hopefully there is a birth surname for regina but and first look I think maybe not. I wrote to my Great Aunt Eve and she was very happy at what we have found. She said a forbearer or Alexanders was meant to be the chief Rabbi for Bucharest and she set me the challenge to find out who :0) if it was someone on his mums side I guess I will have to scrutise the letter for another surname. Hope your both well. Regards from London. Corin

Hi everyone. It has been a while so sorry for my absence.
I have been doing a little travelling and moved to Australia.

An amazing special thank you to Ursula and Juergen who have continued to find
more and more things. I can not believe how much we have found in a short space in time.

When I started I decided to read every single web page that refers to Alexander to find any small details that may help. I randomly found this website where alex was only mentioned on a school register from his childhood. From the many small details I found this was easily the best. Not actually for the detail so much, although very helpful but because I found this great website by chance. When I posted for help actually I was not sure anyone would/could and it felt like a shot in the dark, a random chance really. Now I know largely who my family were. There are still stones to over turn but so much has been done.
                      Truely amazing.

So to fill in people on a lot of things.

I went to Vienna and visited former family houses, just from the outside.
I went to where Clara lived with Alexanders half siblings; Marcel, daisy, Stella, Lucy and Paul. I left a card and flowers for them.

With out reading through every post I am not sure what details are on here so...
Clara his step mum and Lucy were killed in the holocaust. Marcel went to New York. Stella went to Israel as did Paul.

Daisy lived and stayed in Vienna and was a professor at the university and died in 1993. we believe she had a daughter as a woman with her married name lives in her old home and also was a professor at the university.
Marcel went to New York with his wife Margarethe I believe (from the top of my head) but we do not have many details. Job? children? I dont think we know yet.
Stella went to Israel but we have found no other details so far.
Paul went to Israel and was a professor of mineralogy. he died in a car crush. he had a son, alive still I believe? I am in touch with his grandson Amir Solomonica...amazing. he gave me some details also.

I also went to the home of Julius and Bruno Solomonica. they lived opposite sigmund freuds office. there was still a number of buildings where drs. work. I got in touch with Brunos son. he was surprised...I believe we discovered Brunos sisters hedwick werner and sophie taubenfeld. Sophie died young. did hedwick have children? i dont think we found out yet?

I also visited the last home of alexander on the outskirts of vienna and left flowers and a card. it was pretty amazing to walking where my family have been and a bit of closure maybe.

I also visited the cemetery where wilhem wolf is buried. i found the spot of his grave but it was not there. destroyed in the war perhaps.

also thanks to Ursula and Juergen we have found the details for Alexanders mum.
Regina Solomonica born Braff. from Lublin russian-poland born 1863 died 1885 at 32 years old in berlin. Her dad was markus braff and mum laia (elenore) Braff born sper.
it seems there were a number of siblings. we have some names and d.o.b but not many details except for one. Adolf Braff moved to London and worked as a variety agent. he had a shop in Leicester square selling tickets I assume as people still do today. He then moved to america and worked for warner brother it seems. he did not have children it appears. thats it for now!
