Are there any mentions of Schneider before the 1620s? Perhaps the birth of Heinrich Schneider?
Church books for Niedermittlau start in 1576. It turns out that at least 3 generations of Schneider lived in Niedermittlau (if Heinrich was born there).

I checked the baptisms for Schneider before 1576-1620.

There are quite a few Schneiders who get baptized for example a Christoph Schneider and few Hans (Johannes) Schneider. But no Heinrich. Between 1599 and 1608 is also a gap for baptisms and burials. Marriages for Niedermittlau start after 1658. I don’t know why there are no marriage records in the oldest churchbook.

Schneider is one of the oldest names in Niedermittlau with a few others.

That looks correct. I checked if I could find the burial entries of Johann Wilhelm Wagners parents, but it seem that they died before the beginning of the second churchbook (gap).

The son of Johann Wilhelm Schneider - Johann Heinrich Schneider (my direct ancestor) married Susanna Engel from Hailer (near Niedermittlau) on 12.02.1739. It is known that her parents were Johann Conrad Engel and Maria Margaretha Schüßler who married on 21.02.1717. It is also known that Johann Conrad Engel's father was named Bastian (~Sebastian) Engel, and Maria Margaretha's father was Conrad Schüßler.
Then Joh. Conrad became a widower and married a second time to Anna Margaretha Ehring. The date of Maria Margaretha Schüßler's death is unknown to me. I suggest 1721-1722. Can you look for birth records of Johann Conrad Engel and Maria Margaretha Schüßler from Hailer?


On Gedbas.de I found the Engel family from Hailer: Michael Engel 1620-24.10.1702 and Ottilia 1625-?
In 1651 they had a son Michael (died 14.04.1731). On 29.01.1679 he married Margaretha Spieker (1659-03.12.1729)
On 14.01.1680 they had a son Lorenz. I suggest that they are somehow related. Most likely Michael Engel Sr. is the father of Sebastian Engel.

In the baptismal record of Susanna Engel, Michael Engel and Maria Margaretha were godparents.
