Looking for details of Blanche Solomonica and unknown mother

    Hello to Berlin from London.

I am looking for details of my Great Aunt and her mother.
My Great Aunt was Blanche Solomonica and I believe she married Paul Mahlberg. I believe she was born some time between 1880-1896.
I have read that she was born in Lichterfelde-Berlin. Her brother was Alexander Solomonica who was born in Iasi Romania in 1889. The family moved to Berlin not long after he was born. Alexander wrote a book called Herr Heckfish. In the book he says his mother died when he was 6. I believe he would have been in Berlin at this time (1885) I dont know her first name or maiden name just her married name solomonica. is it likely that details can be found?
    thanks for any help. corin

Here you can Check the adress an the year when an entry ends.

Then you can take a look about the right civil districts:

When you known this you can give an Search Order to the Archiv of Berlin "Landesarchiv Berlin".

Greetings Dave. Thank you. Yes that is my Alexander. I can not find any Solomonica in the Berlin Address book unfortunately so this maybe a difficult search. I know Alexander married Marianne and dates of birth. I am not sure who his and Blanches father was although I have an idea. I will contact the person but I expect they are written all they know. thanks

I Think your Paul Mahlberg went to Essen:

              In The Year 1953

Dr. Paul Mahlberg was Head of the House of Industries until 1966:

I Think he died in Essen:
bis 1966 Leiter des „Hauses Industrieform

              Greetings DM

Alexander wrote a book called Herr Heckfish. In the book he says his mother died when he was 6.
I hadn't caught this detail before!

Assuming that Alexander was born in 1889, his mother would have died in 1895.

If you look at the marriage record for Wilhelm S. and Claire Horwitz, you'll see that he was a widower since 28th of April 1895. So it seems likely to me that his first wife was Alexander's mother and Wolf/Wilhelm his father.

It's a bit strange that Alexander doesn't show up on the announcement of Wilhelm's death. Maybe there was a will that could still be found in an archive and shed light on the family situation. Maybe open a new topic in the Austria forum.

                      Gruß

You should obtain the registrar's records on Wilhelm. Maybe children living in the household are listed.

HI Gki and thank you for all your help. Ursula read an extract from the book which said his mum died when he was 6 and he loved his step mum. She also pointed to Wilhelm getting remarried and suggested he could be the father. It does seems quite likely. As you say it is strange there was no mention on Wilhelms death announcement. I sent of for Wilhelms Austrian registration details so I am hoping this will shed more light when I receive it. Looking on JewishGen for Romania I think I have linked nearly all Solomonica's in Iasi to the same family. Just need the final pieces of the Jigsaw...conformation of father and a name for the mother ;0)

Could 28th of April 1895 be a date of death of the mother?
