    Looking for family

    Hello

I am newbie on this forum and in this topic, so my question below can be a little bit trivial for you as a Germans.

Two years ago I found digitalised archive in Opava in which I discovered 200 relatives. What is more, some weeks ago, during surfing through that archive, I found Card Indexes. (Example in attachement). Number of cards which present my realtives who were exiled in 1946 is 17. Even thought our common ancestor was born in 1720 (my ancestor leave Sudetenland in 1850 and settled down in the area of present Poland) I would like to find them.

    So... I have a question:

    1. Is this any chance of finding them in some databases? associations?

I am suspecting that because of "personal data protection" it is impossible to search in parish metrics e.g. Bavaria (main point of migration) which are undoubtedly actually non-published.

The catholic church books of the diocese Passau are online

Some of the protestant churchbooks are online at Archion

      Hello newbie,

if I understand you correct, you are searching the descendants of ~17 people who have been exiled after WW2 in 1946 from Opava, CSSR, and you ar NOT one of these descendants, but some relatively far away relative with common roots back in 1720-1850.

If this is the case, you basically have no chance whatsoever to officially get these data. Due to data protection laws, the following time restrictions for publishing data apply:
      Births 110 years
      Marriages 80 years
      Deaths 30 years
So you might find death records, but no marriage or birth records related to these people. If you were a direct descendant of these people you could claim a special interest and overrule these limits, but in your case ... looks not good at all.

However, why don't you just scan some of those cards, present them here (translated please, at least English) and see what these clever girls and boys here might find out?
      Liebe Grüße

      Volker

      Gesucht:
FN Prause, Bialystok, Polnisch-Kamnitz (Kamenica Polska), Neulomnitz (Nova Lomnica)
      FN Rode, Raum Dresden
      FN Flügel, Raum Gefrees
      /Zell, Fichtelgebirge

Mit PC geht alles viel schneller - es dauert halt nur ein bisschen länger ...

        Hi.

Mr Volker u are right. I m a far away relative. Moreover, more of these 17 people was born in time of '20 and '30 and because of data protection in czech (100 years births and 75 for deaths and marriages) it is impossible to get to know direct datas and relations between 17 people from metrics. For eg. Parish book ~1880 to 1949 (births) will be available for everyone in .....2050. So the only source of info I have, come from these 17 cards.

Ok. I do that tomorrow...during the day ofc :-)

Ok, I uploaded table, which presents all information about 17 people who are interesting for me. I know that chances are minimal but I wanna try....
