That last column is "Reason for granting passport or document on which visa was issued".


For most of the people in this list it is "d M N." followed by a number; this appears to be an abbreviation for "die Matrikel Nr."; that is, a cross-reference to another register in which this person was recorded.

Thank you, Carl-Henry. I believe you were also pursuing German citizenship through descent. Are you aware if a document of this type from Invenio is sufficient proof of an ancestor's German citizenship? I am still confirming with my other resources. Thanks

Yes, you remember correctly.


I am not sure whether a printout from Invenio is going to be sufficient. Admittedly the documents I am using are from local archives rather than the Federal Archive, but I got photocopies with an official seal and signature from the archivist attesting that they were true copies ("Amtliche Beglaubigung").



You may wish to use the contact form (https://archiv.diplo.de/arc-en/the-p...larRegistratur) to ask them whether they can provide an "Amtliche Beglaubigung" of your document, or whether they think that a print-out from Invenio (with URL or other proof that it is in fact from Invenio) will be sufficient - I have to think you wouldn't be the first person posing this question.
