    Hello Melissa,

    idea:
Verlustlisten 1. Weltkrieg: 6X Feske in Gr.(oß) Ehrenberg.
    - 1945 Germany/ Neumark, heute Polen.
Groß Ehrenberg war ein Rittergut im Kreis Soldin.

    Beste Grüße

Sure that this is a town name? I believe it states something like "Empire".

I'm not 100% it is a town just thought it was because of how it is written. It could be Empire? Does anyone else have anyother thoughts? This is our only hope in finding the hometown in Brandenburg of our Feske's

Sorry Melissa, I think it's indeed the Emperor of Germany, not the town where he comes from.

Everything else we have just shows Brandenburg, Prussia. We were hoping this was a town and not Empire.

With the findagrave data you can find a pedigre resource file on familysearch. His parents are listed there as well, that might help in the search for his birth place.

His brother (as mentioned in the familysearch tree), died in Helena Township, Griggs, ND - and the Griggs County History states:

John D. and Augusta A. Feske were married in Falkenstein, Prussia in 1864. They came to America in 1871 and settled in Michigan for 9 years. They then moved to Valley City for one year. At that time they moved to Griggs County and homesteaded near Sutton. John and Augusta Feske had 10 children.

So if he really was Michaels brother, the town of his marriage (Falkenstein) might help in a further search for the birth place.

P.S. So Falkenstein, Prussia might be the one in the former Friedeberg County (in the Neumark region of Brandenburg) - today its Sokólsko in Poland. - http://gov.genealogy.net/item/show/FALEINJO72RW

                            Hello,

one more thing. Like David Feske (most likely the brother of Michael), Michael Feske lived in Michigan first and later moved to SD. So, in Michigan you can find several Feske's, like this one:

Carl F. Feske – Carl Ferdinand Feske died Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. Mr. Feske was born
July 19, 1832 at Schoenrade, Prussia and was married Nov. 17, 1862 to Miss Ernestine Werner, a n
ative of Liebenow, Prussia. The family came to America and settled in St. Clair in 1865.

Both mentioned villages are also located in the Friedeberg County...so one can start to see a pattern there.

Unfortunately, most of the churchbooks and other data for the Neumark region were lost in ww2, so its hard to put all these clues together and find real proof.

I'm sorry, I thought is said where not when. This is what I know:
His name is Michael A Feske/Fiske born September 26, 1836 in Brandenburg
(The actual date is from some documents we have and also on Findagrave.com)
He was born to John Feske and Elizabeth Bomen (these names are on his death certificate but no other documents have been found with their names)
He married Wilhelmina Unknown on July 28, 1865 before coming to the states.
He immigrated about 1867/68 first living in Michigane before making his forever home in North Dakota. (a ship record has never been found)
He had a brother, John David Feske-B: September 23, 1834, that also came to the States about 1871 with his wife Augusta Amelia Michaelis and 2 children, Bertha Mary Lizzie (Elizabeth?-1869), and John August Feske (1870).
They too lived in Michigan before setteling in North Dakota. We currently have a request in for John David Feske's death certificate to see if we can learn anything new. Thanks for your help
