    [gelöst] Help please with Taufe index entry 1785

    Quelle bzw. Art des Textes: Taufe Index Evang KB Petersdorf
    Jahr, aus dem der Text stammt: 1785
    Ort und Gegend der Text-Herkunft: Petersdorf Kr. Wehlau, Ost Preussen
    Namen um die es sich handeln sollte:

    Hello Everybody,

    Can someone please help with reading the entry for the 27th Dec 1785

    I think it reads, Diesing, Christian, 27th Dec, unable to read standing/occupation or the fathers name or village. (similar village in 1788 may be clearer to read)

    Does the note in the far column refer to a marriage in 1817 ?

    Many Thanks in advance
    Jan

    Hallo Jan

    ?iesing, Christian, 85, 27 Dec., Holzschläger Heinrich, a. Naskel?, heiratete 1817 Aug. Doroth. Gronau

    It would be interesting if we could read the full entry as well.
    The father Heinrich was a woodcutter and the place is very difficult to read. At best you can find a listing of all places from this church area. Christian married in 1817.

      Hello Jan,

      I read:

      (S)using, Christian | 85 | 27 Dec | Holzschläger Heinrich | a. Naukel | heiratete 1817 10. Aug. Dorothe(a) Gronau

      (S)using = correct family name should be Süring (see entry 13 Jun 88: same father!)
      Holzschläger = lumberjack (profession)
      Heinrich = Henry (fathers name?)
      a. Naukel = from Naukel (forest house) http://www.kreisgemeinschaft-wehlau.de/GemOTWohnpl.pdf
      heiratete = married
      Dorothe(a) Gronau = brides name

      Best regards
      Reiner

        Thank you Octavian Busch and Reiner for you help,

        The page of the index are for surnames starting with "D".

        I only have access to Ancestry.com and they do not have Petersdorf taufen that early online. but it is a start.

        Christian Deising is my 3X great grandfather.

          Hello everyone:

          I can confirm that this is from the page for surnames starting "D". For those who want to confirm this, the page at ancestry (for German ancestry users) is https://www.ancestry.de/imageviewer/.../0072354-00063.

          It is not just ancestry/familysearch that do not have the baptismal books for these years - per the listing at https://wiki.genealogy.net/Ostpreu%C...Cndung_1368.29, the baptismal books for the years between 1760 and 1796, and the years between 1802 and 1844, no longer exist, so the index is the only thing we still have.

          Incidentally, as I read the name in the index, it could well be Düsing instead of Deising.

          Regards

            Hello Carl-Henry,

            Thank you for confirming the D page index and also the missing books from Petersdorf.

            I have been looking at the Petersdorf KB's from time to time for some years now as many of my ancestors are from around that particular region of Wehlau.

            I suspect that "Düsing" is a early version as it disappears from the records and then Deising appears with no records seen of the earlier version.

            Cheers
            Jan
