[gelöst] Conrad von Waldkirch of Schaffhausen, Schweiz

Quelle bzw. Art des Textes: Family Search
Jahr, aus dem der Text stammt: Unknown
Ort und Gegend der Text-Herkunft: Schaffhausen, Schweiz
Namen um die es sich handeln sollte: Conrad von WALDKIRCH

Hello all. I found this entry regarding my direct ancestor: Conrad von WALDKIRCH. It begins in the middle of the left page and continues on the top right page. I would appreciate any help in understanding the entry, even if it can not be a full translation. For example, does it state that Conrad's parents are Hans and Beatrix von Waldkirch? I strive to learn details about my ancestors but I understand if a complete translation is too time consuming. And the writing in the margin may be illegible. As always, thank you for continuing to help me understand the past.

    Hi Ellen

I think, here is the meaning in clear text: https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/de/articles/021611/2011-11-10/

My reading attempt (although I don't understand much of what I have read):

    3. A[nn]o 1487 Conrad von Waldkirch, Herren Burgermeister
Hans Waldkirchen Sohn, so sein Geschlecht Namme geende-
ret und denselben mit samt dem Waapen von Kayser
Friderich dem 3ten außgebracht hat, ware des Raths und
hernach a. 1490 Burgermeister, diß Geschlechts der ander,

If it helps, I can write the words in modern spelling, but I am not really able to translate the text to either German or English.

    Ronny

P.S. Schollenberg: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgstelle_Schollenberg (I have never heard it before).

Flaach and Volken are villages in the canton Zürich, close to Schaffhausen.

And Hans and Beatrix were not his parents but his children.

Thank you for taking the time to help, Ronny. I could not really understand the translation but the links you provided were definitely a help. It is frustrating having so much information from so long ago, but not fully understanding all of it. But what you have provided me here is certainly a big help!

      Kind regards,

      Ellen

        Translation:

In the year 1487, Conrad, son of mayor Hans Waldkirch, was ennobled by Kaiser Friderich III, and his surname changed to "von Waldkirch", in addition, he received a coat of arms. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freder..._Roman_Emperor
Conrad became member of the city council, and in 1490 he became mayor. He was furthermore a leading member of the local merchants guild. In the year 1495, Conrad was the advocate of Mrs Adelheit Schwendin, the widow of Ulrich Trüllereyen. Conrad died in 1512, his wife was Mrs "Elßbetha Irmin von Basel".
Their children were "Hans von Waldkirch" and "Beatrix von Waldkirch".
The husband of "Beatrix von Waldkirch" was "Ulrich von Fulach". Beatrix and Ulrich lived at the central market place of Schaffhausen. The marriage portion, Beatrix was bringing in, were the Schäppin manor, and the dominion Flaach.
Conrads son "Hans von Waldkirch" got the dominion Schollenberg from his father.

Just as an idea: You could try to contact the authors of the articles in the "Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz". I assume they are historians and have more publications on these topics. Perhaps only in German(?), but then it is at least modern German and translatable with Google or DeepL.

          P. S. Or maybe not necessary, since we have Anna Sara for this

Thank you Anna Sara and Ronny for the tremendous help. It is quite a bit clearer now! And I will look into the possibility of contacting the author of the article for additional information or sources. Have a good night.

            Kind regards,

            Ellen
