Answer: yes

Mostly, in the past centuries, the doctors didn't actually know the real causes of illnesses. Therefore, they only could describe the symptoms of the disease. The word "Zehrfieber" is one of these descriptions of symptoms.


The Zehrfieber (Febris hectica) occurs in the various forms of tuberculosis. The feverish has good appetite and tolerates all food, but despite ample food intake, he is exhausted. The patient sweats heavily in the early morning hours with the subsequent feeling of great fatigue. Often he also has severe diarrhea. The prognosis is usually bad, because the fever lasts for a very long time, and the patient is therefore very exhausted.
