Hello all,
The information I have for my 6th great grandfather, Bartholomaus Wittekind, is from the Mellingen OFB which listed his marriage date and death in Mellingen but not his date of birth. This leads me to believe that he was not born there. I have never found a single shred of information about where he was from or when he was born until I stumbled across this: https://ibb.co/wgCcG7v
This lists a Casparus Bartholomaus Wiedekind as being baptized on 25 May 1662. Frankenhausen is only 80km away Mellingen. I've never found any other spelling variation of Wittekind in addition to the name Bartholomaus. If it is him, he would have had children while was aged 40 through 49 so that is plausible. I did find a Frankenhausen OFB on ofb.de but I was wondering if there was another source as that one appears to be from the 1800s.
If anyone has any information (his father is listed as Christopher Wiedekind, btw) about this, I'd be very happy! Barthol is a far back as I've ever gotten.
Also, is there any other sources for OFBs other than the ofb.de? Even a place to purchase them? I found lots of them on FamilySearch but most are blocked unless you are a member of the Church. Thanks again!
