German soldier during second World War II

First, sorry this one in English but my German is not my strong point.

I've been told by family that my real grandfather is German, and it is he and his family I am looking for, but need help.

His name is Frantz Rolfes and had been born 5 august/15 august 1925. But do not, unfortunately, know in what city.

His last known residence was Wadelheim 35, Westphalia, Germany.

He was a German soldier during second World War II in Norway, and there he met my grandmother.

Shortly before the war end, he was called back to Germany and experienced unfortunately not to see my father who was born dec the 1945 i Bodø, Norway.

Is there anyone who can assist with help on how I find my German relatives.
    Thanks in advance

    Welcome

    Hello,

here you can see the website of Wadelheim with the inhabitants in 1920.

Please scroll down and you will find Heinrich Rolfes - may be your grandfather - with his address and profession. He was a conductor.

    Greetings, Gabi

          Hello and welcome,

do you have maybee so more details. Like where he stayed in Norway, City and maybee location of the barracs. In what time he stayed in Norway, maybee you have some further details to find the part of the troop. Maybee you know what he was "working" there in which unit. Google tells me he was a "Techniker".

And are you sure that he was written Frantz and not Franz (Frantz is unusual but possible)?

Here is the adressbook Wadelheim of 1937:

          and 1925:

But i think the fastest way is is to look in the phonebook for rolfes in Wadelheim (belongs to Rheine) and there is a Franz Rolfes.
So now it starts to be an adventure ;-)
          Here is the phonebook: http://www.dastelefonbuch.de

          Good Luck,

          Kai

And thanks to everyone for the quick reply

Unfortunately this is the only information I have - my grandmother was live in Borø, Norway - and it was here that my father was born in 1945.

Really hope to get started on this case and maybe with time finding living people.

For after he left Norway, he came back to Germany. Have heard he survives the war and after the war he acknowledges paternity, and pay a form of child benefit for my father in 12-15 years.

Maybee the best is to write a letter to this Franz, I can help to translate.
On the other side you side he allready knows that he got a son so it will be no surprise for him. If this Franz is another one so maybee he knows a the right Franz or his family, its no big city.

                      Hello,

if your are not sure, how to contact the Franz Rolfes - maybe the people of VKSVG e.V. could help you - they search for fathers and grandfathers from every army from WW2 - the Forum is in German - sorry - but I think they have done something like this more often then you and know the problems. http://www.vksvg.de/index.php

(Fear you want to inherit money - or something similar)

The right Theme is : Kriegskinder (children of war) - I hope you can start your question in English - otherwise I could help.

                      Good luck
                      Christine

Hello and first thanks for the help I have received to date. I have now found a little more info on my grandfather about his military time in oslo during second World War II. I found out when he is dead (thanks to Kai), and whom he was married to. But ... how can I find out who his father and mother were with the information I have. For it is not easy when you live in Denmark
