    Finding 18th-19th century addresses

Please forgive me if this question was answered previously. I searched and was unable to find it.

For the Netherlands I used cadastral maps and tables to find the exact locations where my known ancestors owned property. But I have been unable to find similar information and maps for Germany. I have many ancestor names, dates, and towns and want to find their 18th and 19th century addresses in the Bentheim, Germany area.

I would be grateful for any advice! Thank you.

    Hello Gryfflet,

Germany was very much split up into small and smaller jurisdictions during 18th and (to a lesser degree) the 19th century. From this it follows that your question is best answered by people who do research in the area you are interested in.

If this is the correct Bentheim:

then you should ask in the "Niedersachsen" sub-forum.
    Gruß
