    Schwarzmüller and Wimmer family

I have been researching my fiancé’s paternal grandfather’s side and was able to get some information from the U.S. records I’ve found. After months of searching, I learned this week his grandfather is not a biological son to the great-grandfather. His family knows nothing beyond that.

I think I have finally found a few records, but need translation and confirmation of what I think I see. I would also appreciate any assistance finding further records.

    Grandfather
    Franz Wimmer April 11, 1914
He may have been illegitimate. Per U.S. Naturalization record last name when entering U.S was mother’s maiden name Schwarzmüller. Ship manifest does say Wimmer.
Born in Vilshofen per ship manifest, Damenshift per Naturalization record.

His mother is Anna Schwarzmüller October 2, 1893 in Soldenau per ship manifest
Ship manifest nearest relative father Franz Schwarzmuller in Kamm
US SS Claims index lists parents as Franz Schwarzmuell and Kreszens Wagner

I think this may be Anna’s birth record on Line 28

I believe this may be her mother’s death record on line 9

And the following record may be the marriage record of her parents. I believe it is mentioned on her birth record.
Line 5. It is crossed out and rewritten.

    Step-father
    Johann Wimmer Jan 6 1896
Ship manifest last residence Vilshofen and closet relative wife Anna Wimmer Schweiklberg 15, Vilshofen
Place of birth Hilgardsberg per ship manifest and declaration of intention; Pörndorf per possible WWI personnel rosters

I do believe Franz’s father was a step-father, though I know sometimes parents married later as was the case with Anna’s birth record.

I would truly appreciate translations of these records. I am very new researching this area and would appreciate any guidance. Thank you, in advance.

    Hello!

Let me start by saying that "Wimmer" is one of the most common names in Bavaria. Each parish hat a "Wibm" and so from each of those farms a "Wimmer" family can originate.

I alone have 4 distinct Wimmer families in my family tree.

So great care needs to be taken when researching such a family to not confuse it with others.

The entry from Ortenburg about the birth and baptism of Anna Schwarzmüller says:

"Anna illeg." (her parents weren't married when she was born)
"legit. per matr. subs 24. Mai 1898" Her parents eventually married on the given day and she was legitimated.

Her father is Franz Schwarzmüller, a son of a Smith, living in Söldenau.
Her mother is Creszens Wagner, daugther of an innkeeper, also living in Söldenau.

You have found the marriage record, for some reason the priest started over.

Franz is mentioned as starting as a innkeeper in Voglern, his parents are Michael Schwarzmüller and Anna born Schachlbauer. He was born 1868-03-27 at Söldenau.

Creszens was born 1871-01-26 at Edt near Unteriglbach, her parents were Joseph Fischer, "now smallholder in Neuwelt" and Klara Wagner, innkeeper in Söldenau. They apparently did not marry as Creszenz uses her mother's name.

"Neuwelt" may refer to an area north east of Passau, but also to the US...

The death entry could refer to Creszenz, age seems fitting.

Thank you so much for your response and all the information you provided from the records. I wanted to be especially careful since the names seem quite common and I do not have as much experience in this area.
