    Hi,
Apologies for posting in English, but I do not read or write German, so thank God for Google translate function!

Since the recent death of my father and my early retirement, I have been spurred on to search for further information about my lineage. I know my ancestors came from Neiderstetten. The furthest I have managed to trace back so far is Johan Michael Dill (born 1749), married to Charlotte Dorothea Schumm. His son John George was born in Neidertetten on November 3rd 1778 and subsequently emigrated to Bath, England, where he set up a thriving local industry as a farmer and pork butcher with his many sons.

Any information about my family's earlier/wider roots in Neiderstetten / Wurttemberg would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks and kind regards
    Raymond Dill

    Raymond,
    to the forum
The protestant church records of Niederstetten are available on microfilm.
If you have an account at FamilySearch, you can order the film number on FamilySearch to a Family History Center near your location.
    Viele Grüße
    Michael

        Hello Raymond

On Rootschat.com we have a pork butchers' database for pork butchers from mainly the Hohenlohe region who emigrated to England from 1800-1900. I have not seen any Dills on it but I know of someone I can contact to enquire about them.

My own ancestors emigrated to England from this region and I am sure that if you post the details of your ancestor someone will try to help you.

I shall also be in the area in August this year so can maybe find some trace of your ancestors.

        Kind regards
        Gill
