My ancestor left the EU in 1777 and went to South America. He was of probably Austrian or Austrian/German ancestry. I am looking for information if someone might know a little about this.
Mein Vorfahr verlies Europa 1777 und ging nach Südamerika. Er war wahrscheinlich Österreicher oder Österreich/Deutscher Abstammung. Ich suche nach Informationen, ob eventuell jemand etwas darüber weiß.

Hello Flora57,
of course you can post in English, just be aware that some of the older folks here might not be able to understand it
On average, Germans have a very level of English as compared to other European nationalities, but the level decreases with age.
Simply post in the subforum that you think is appropriate for your ancestors. If you're not sure where they came from, open a thread in the general forum we're in right now. Please make sure to include all the names, years, religions and places.
You can find an English-language "primer" on German genealogy here.
With verwandt.de and meta.genealogy.net, you might be able to guess the approximate region your ancestors came from.
Cheers!

Hello Flora,
it's better to write in english than to post a google translation, they are verry bad

Can you tell us more about your ancestor?
Where did he come from? Do you know some dates? Do you have some documents? And the most important thing, what's his name?Viele Grüße .................................. .
Christine

I was just reading a google translation on thread here about out-of-marriage born children. Maybe my ancestor the one who left in1777 was perhaps such a son and just started a new life accross the ocean.... like clean slate no one know he from affair or something..... For privacy I do not say which country.Name is also in the site stammreihen.de I also notice the name as a combination of 2 surnames.
I was google searching late last night and instead of all I hit images and I see a little picture.............a young man in uniform I do not know perhaps is WW 1 but date 3x? is too late..........but maybe he is related to my ancestor..........both my brothers died years ago in middle age but when young .........one of them looked similar to the man in picture.......
It is a picture on sale at ebay........i see also some old books next to him....so I open bigger picture....he wrote some books...........which are now sold as antique............not sure about privacy and his name..........I tried finding a life story, biography something or what happened to him......nothing comes up.....I show picture paper copy to 2 other neutral person they agree he similar to my dead brother when much younger............
he from old picture has the double name my ancestor had the single surname............
Any thoughts opinions on this........

I think we can't help you without some dates.
With this specifications we can only do wild speculations.
We neither know the fotos, nor your brothers. So we can't say if this guy is your ancestor.Viele Grüße .................................. .
