    Death certificate

    Hello!

I would be grateful for answer to a question.
If it says evangelical lutherisch in the death certificate. Does that mean that the deceased was not of Jewish descent?

    Regards

    Peter

    Hallo!

Für Antworten auf eine Frage wäre ich dankbar.
Wenn es evangelisch lutherisch in der Sterbeurkunde heißt. Bedeutet das, dass der Verstorbene nicht jüdischer Herkunft war?

    Gruß

    Peter

    Hello Peter,
yes that´s correct. If you want to know if he is converted search for his baptism.
    Kind regards
    Viele Grüße

I would have a look at his birth certificate. If he was born Jewish and converted later, it should say "Jewish" on this birth certificate (regarding his parents). What year was he born in?

              Hello Peter,

as I wrote in the other thread, I would request a complete copy of the state marriage entry from http://www.hamburg.de/staatsarchiv. You should learn his date and place of birth from it, and his address at the time of his wedding. Maybe he was born in a village near Danzig?

              Regards,

              Heike

                Hello Juergen!

                Thank you for your help.

My mother-in-law has noted it on a paper many years ago. That her father was born in Danzig in 1903. Unfortunately, she has been demented for many years. That's why I don't know more than that. She did not write what he was called. So I'll try to find out his first name and when he died and where.

                Regards

                Peter

                    Hello Peter,

okay, then there are already state birth records.

So my advice would be: first get his state marriage record, and based on the information therein his state birth record. (By state I mean the "Standesamt".)

                    Regards,

                    Heike
