For what reasons would Friedrich III in 1492 have given certain burghers or bourgeoisie a coat of arms, the description of the arms is in a Coat of Arms letter he signed but not the reasons?
I have attached the Siebmacher page and the question is related to Baltus, Hans and Ulrich Lotter who are also on the tax books of Augsburg in 1497 so I assume the same three. They are potentially Goldsmiths and Burgers of Augsburg.
Was it for services in a war of because of their Goldsmith guild?
