Friedrich Marian/Marion aus Hamburg oder Frankreich?!?
Hallo!
Meine australische Freundin Leith hat mich gebeten, ihr bei folgender Frage behilflich zu sein:
Sie sucht "Frederick Marion" (Friedrich Marian?/Marion?) der laut dem "Certificate of Naturalisation" (ausgestellt 1902) des Staates New South Wales Australia aus HAMBURG stammt. Hier der Originaltext:
" Whereas, in accordance with the provisions of an act in the sixty-second year of the Reign of her late Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled the "Naturalisation and Denization Act of New South Wales, 1898," application to be naturalizedhas been made by
Frederick Marion of Keppelstreet Bathurst a native of Hamburg Germany aged 68 years, who is a carpenter and arrived in the State of New South Wales by the Ship Scottish Chief in the year 1856 and who has resided in the said State for 45 years, and intends to continue to reside therein: AND WHEREAS the said Frederick Marion has duly taken the Oath of Allegiance prescribed by the said Act: Now, therefor I, the Lieutenant Govenor of New South Wales do, with the advice of the Executive Council thereof, hereby Grant unto the said Frederick Marion all the rights and capacities within the said State of New South Wales of a natural-born British subject.
Given under my Hand and Seal, at Sydney, in New South Wales aforesaid, this twenty third day of April One thousand nine hundred and two.....
Bis sie dieses Zertifikat erhielt, waren sie und ihre Familie davon überzeugt, sie seien französischer Abstammung, denn das wurde so weitergegeben. "Hamburg" und Germany hat sie sichtlich überrascht.
Die Daten und Rechnungen stimmen bis dahin. In "family search" findet sich allerdings nur ein Friedrich Marian, geboren 1842 und ein Louis Marian, geboren 1835. Eltern: Claud Marian/Louise Fries aus Nohfelden, Birkenfeld Oldenburg.
Hat das eine etwas mit dem anderen zu tun?
Wo kann ich in Hamburg nach einer protestantischen Geburt 1834 nachfragen?
In "ancestry" fand Leith dann den Eintrag wir oben beschrieben.
