I'm looking for some help or advice.
During the world war 2 my grandmother married a Wehrmacht soldier in occupied Poland. In 1945 his trace was gone and my grandma stayed in Poland.
So this case is pretty complicated. At first, I don’t know the name of my grandfather. My grandmother needed to change her last name (the one that she got after the marriage). Actually, she was forced to do this, because it was 1945 and getting married with a German soldier (even if a bride partially also came from a German family) was considered as a treason. She died young and my father didn’t have a chance to get know his father’s name.
Well, all I know is that the ceremony took place in occupied Poland (in Lwów or Płock). It must have been around 1941/1942. I don’t even whether it was a civil marriage. I supposed so though. The question is who traditionally gave weddings to soldiers during the war.
All my hope is that maybe there is somewhere a database or registered weddings of Wehrmacht soldiers and I could search it by the name of a bride.
Thank you in advance for any help.
