    Familienname "Wampera"

    Hallo Cait,

    Wampe bezeichnet im süddeutschen Raum, v.a. in Bayern, einen stark gewölbten Bauch. Das deutet auf einen Übernamen hin.

    Nach Heintze (1882) jedoch könnte man auf den Ursprung WAN = Glanz, Schönheit schließen:

      Sehr interessant - diesen Ansatz habe ich nicht gefunden.

      Ich bin auch auf den Namen "Wamberer" oder "Wamperer" gestossen. Allerdings habe ich keine Verbindung zum Namen "Wampera" finden können - wahrscheinlich sind die Endungen jedoch nicht wirklich relevant.

      Eine Bedeutung von "Wampera" habe ich heir gefunden:

        Hallo Cait,

        das wäre wirklich zu weit hergeholt.

        Bezügl. Endung -a: Wird in vielen slawischen Namen für die weibliche Form verwendet, im Gegensatz zu -in bei (früheren) deutschen FN.
        Hier hilft Dir nur Ahnenforschung nach der Herkunft von Wampera weiter.
