My greatgrandfather`s brother emigrated to Japan, Yokohama in 1893 taking a ship from Hamburg harbour.
His name: Ferdinand Charles Rhine, *November, 25th 1862 - Islington, Middlesex, Greater London. His Nationality was English.
At Yokohama he must have married a second time about 1907.
In 1907, 1909, 1912 and 1913 he is registerd in the "Japan Directories- Yokohama" residing 220c Bluff, Yokohama.
Unfortunately I`ve no copies of further "Directories"- until the year 1922.
In 1922 there is no Chas.F. Rhine listed anymore but
J.H.Rhine and W.F.Rhine, both residing at 820 Juniten, Honmoku, Yokohama.
I believe both are descendants of Ferdinand Charles (Chas.F.).
Unfortunately these addresses is all information I have about them.
Were they victims of the Great Earthquake in 1923 or of World WarI?
Are there descendants?
Who knows where I have to ask to get further information?
Anne
