Once again, hallo to everyone. I found this baptism certificate of my grandfather from 1909. It seems to say the place of birth from Eduard and Juliana, can you help me figure it out please? Thank you very very much.[IMG][/IMG]

      Hello,

Eltern: Eduard Tiede ev aus Russland 26 Jahre alt
Juliane geb. Adam ev aus Russland 22Jahre alt

Parents: Eduard Tiede ev(angelical) from Russia 26 years old
Juliane born Adam ev(angelical) from Russia 22 years old

This information doesn't really help to find these persons in the huge Russian Empire. German settlements existed mainly in South Russia and also in parts of todays Poland which also belonged to the Russian Empire at that time.

      Good luck.
      Reiner

        LG Susanna

Hello to everyone, are you sure it is a double S?? Comparing it to other "s" on the text the caligraphy is different (like the ones in BuenoS AireS and IriS). To me, it doesn't read as Russland.
          Could it be Ruhland?

              Hello,

I read on the homepage of the foreign office of Germany in Argentina about an institution that gives information about immigrants fpr people who are looking for their ancestors, which is located in Buenos Aires:

Centro de Estudios Migratorios Latinoamericanos (CEMLA) (Zeitraum 1882 – 1926)

              Av. Independencia 20

              1099 Buenos Aires

              Tel.: 4342-6749, 4334-7717

              Fax: 4331-0832

it says they have informations for the time between 1882 - 1926.

              Maybe this could help

              Greetings Hekla

It is true, researches in Russia can take long time, it is not easy, bacause it is a huge country and at this time it was even bigger.
Try to get information from the Centros de estudios migratorios.
I know that Argentina had a few Colonies of Wolga Germans. These were descendants of germans who lived in Russia but spoke german.
