I'm looking for information about my ancestor Georg Richter. His other names found in church records are: Jurgen Wilhelm (1793), Georg Wilhelm (1794), Johann Wilhelm (1799), Georg (1801).

According to the Familienbuch Remscheid he was born in Hessen-Darmstadt (or Grafschaft Wittgenstein) around 1770 and lived in Berghausen (1794), Stachelhausen (1797-1801), Birgderkamp (1803), Dorf Remscheid (1805). There is also a mention that in 1808 he lived with his second wife Anna Maria Claas in Maubach, located 3 hours behind the city of Düren.

Information about his wives and children is known and is given here:
Die Suche betrifft das Jahr oder den Zeitraum: 1814-1817 Genaue Orts-/Gebietseingrenzung: Solingen, Lennep, Remscheid, Klingenthal (Bas-Rhin, Frankreich), Slatoust (Ural, Rußland) The appearance of German (Prussian) masters in the city of Zlatoust is due, on the one hand, to the conditions prevailing in Europe (in

    Mother - Anna Catharina Becker
Father - Philip or Johann Jacob

Now I'm interested in finding the birthplace of Georg Richter.

So maybe someone can help answer the questions:
    1) did someone meet these names (Richter, Becker and Claas) in researches in these areas (Hessen-Darmstadt, Grafschaft Wittgenstein, Solingen, Remscheid)?;
    2) does anyone know what Maubach is meant, where its church books are kept (in what archive)?

He was born at Grafschaft Sayn-Wittgenstein, which was assigned to Großherzogtum Hessen in 1806: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sayn-W...in#Territorium Here is a map: http://www.hoeckmann.de/images/wittgenstein.gif Unfortunatelly, I could not find a list of parishs in Sayn-Wittgenstein, but probably you find most of them at Kirchenkreis Wittgenstein: https://www.archion.de/de/browse/?no...=189038-583579 I don't know if there are further parts of former Sayn-Wittgenstein, that don't belong to Nordrhein-Westfalen (and Kirchenkreis Wittgenstein) today. There is also a Familienbuch Saynische Lande, but I am not sure if it contains the area of Sayn-Wittgenstein. You may contact Mr. Paul: https://wiki.genealogy.net/Saynische_Lande,_OFB The familynames of his parents (Richter and Becker) are very common https://nvk.genealogy.net/map/1890:Richter,1890:Becker, meaning judge and baker

He lived at Maubach, which is probably located at Eifel/Kreis Düren today. The ones mentioned at Meyers are not 3h behind Düren https://s.meyersgaz.org/search?search=Maubach I am not 100% sure if this https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obermaubach and this https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Untermaubach is at the same place like this https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maubacher_Bleiberg. Ober- and Untermaubach belong to Kreuzau today, Maubacher Bleiberg (Horm) belongs to Hürtgenwald. Both municipalities border on each other, unfortunatelly I can not find a more detailed map: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._in_DN.svg.png But Horm and Untermaubach are just 3-4 km apart, so this should be the place you are looking for. There is also a Maubacher Straße https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ma...73!4d6.4806978 Still, I don’t know where protestants from that area went to church and to which Standesamt it belonged. Maybe someone else can help with this?

I don't understand why he and his second wife married at Remscheid, while they apparently both lived at Maubach at that time.

      Best wishes
      Martin

Addition: Obermaubach belonged to Bürgermeisterei Nideggen https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nideggen, Niedermaubach and Horm to Bürgermeisterei Straß https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stra%C...C3%BCrtgenwald) at Kreis Düren https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreis_...6%E2%80%931971) since 1816

I don't know if the civil records are online on other sources.

I received some new documents from the Zlatoust archive. One of them states that Georg Richter is "from Richstein in Franken [Franconia]".
I was only able to identify one Richstein as part of the city of Bad Berleburg.
Can anyone tell if this territory was ever a part of Franken or a part of Grafschaft Sayn-Wittgenstein (mentioned in the above message)?
Maybe someone has an idea what other Richstein is meant?

            Hallo Dmitry,

congrats, I guess I found the christening of Georg Wilhelm Richter (via Archion, see attachment). It is the Richstein next to Bad Berleburg, former part of Grafschaft Sayn-Wittgenstein. The village belonged to the protestant church of Arfeld (also part of Bad Berleburg today). It was not a part of Franken, at least not in early modern age.

            The entry says:

            (37) Georg Wilhelm 27ten Dec.
28ten ejus: zu Richstein Philipp Richter ...
Steiger auf dem ... ... und Anna Katharina
Eheleut ein Söhnlein. Test: Joh. Georg Rudolph eben-
falls Steiger, dann Wilhelm Bolz Bergknapp aus
Redighausen gebürtig und Anna Elisabetha, des ...
            Hannes Hoppenstiels zu Richstein Ehefrau

            (37) Georg Wilhelm 27th of Decembre
28th of the same: at Richstein Philipp Richter ...
mine foreman at ... (probably the mines name) and Anna Katharina
spouses, a son. Witnesses: Johann Georg Rudolph also
mine foreman, further Wilhelm Bolz miner from
Redighausen (probably Reddighausen, City of Hatzfeld/Eder) and Anna Elisabetha
wife of Hannes Hoppenstiel from Richstein

I could not find the marriage of Richter/Becker at Arfeld, but I found the Wittgensteiner Familiendatei on the website of Landesarchiv NRW: https://www.archive.nrw.de/landesarc...-familiendatei You can download the gedcom-file and import in a genealogy software (attention, don't import it into your regular database you work with). There you find the family of Philipp Richter (see other attachments). I don't know where the info about the parents is from, as I can not detect a source - maybe someone who is used to work with the Wittgensteiner Familiendatei can explain it.

            Best wishes
            Martin
