I am searching for Herbert Hirsch who was born in Friedenthal, Konigsberg, or Friedental, East Prussia in 1923 around the Lotzen area that is now in Poland. He reportedly used Konigsberg because it was the largest city around where he was actually born. I posted a few minutes ago asking for help on using the civil registration card search. If I can verify the date of birth and his hometown from a registration card I could narrow my search immensely. I've found that there are 2 Friedenthals and 1 Friedental in the area he was from. I'm working on finding the correct church books for those areas to see if I can find an entry for him.

Hi Stopher,

if he was from Friedenthal, next to Spiergsten in Lötzen, his baptism record would have been in the church books of Lötzen. The original church books were destroyed only the indexes ("1877-1940 Land") survived. Those indexes won't be accessible online in the near future. So if you are sure he is from this village I would recommend asking at the Evangelisches Zentralarchiv in Berlin for research.

Kartenmeister lists 7 Friedenthal with 3 being in East Prussia.
