    Hans Luttensee 1941

    Hello Everybody,

    Hopefully someone can help.
My Gross Onkel, Hans Luttensee 1941 as per Postcard to my Oma.
What information are you able to see from the photo, for example rank etc., I see "Balt.10" on the wall and also interested in the badge on his upper left pocket flap.
    Many thanks
    Jan Tromp

    Jan,

    - his rank: regular
    - the colour of his branch could be white (=infantry) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffen...5%E2%80%931945)
    - I have never seen the round emblem/decoration before
    - I am not an expert, but I would say it is a Feldbluse M40
    - I would say the sign on the wall shows: BatL.10

Do you have any more information?
    - date of birth / death (--> records)
    - did he survive (if not --> Volksbund Gräbersuche)
    - information about his military life (--> Bundesarchiv)

      Gerrit, thankyou for your reply

I have not spent much time searching this side of the the family and only have his death cert.
I have not searched for any of his military records, not sure how it all works?

Here is his entry in the database of the "Volksbund":

Basically just confirms the data from his death certificate.

And just for reference, here's a situation map for March 11th '45 with Eichenberg marked in red.

          Jan,

here is the entry of Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge / war grave commission

          --> no grave - sorry!

Here you can ask about his military service / CV (it will take some time...)

His wife or family surely had searched for him; so you can send a request to Red Cross Germany: https://www.drk-suchdienst.de/de/suc...iter-weltkrieg

I did not find any more records on ancestry, but with the record numbers Hamburg-Wandsbek 1944/220 you can easily send directly a request for the marriage record and I Harburg-Wilhelmsburg 1909/55 for birth record to the Bezirksamt Hamburg-Nord https://www.hamburg.de/bkm/familienf...lienforschung/ (generalregister@hamburg-nord.hamburg.de). I am sure you can write in english.

If you need more assistance or translation let us know here or you can write directly: gerrit_af(at)web.de.
