    Roye

    Hello
I want to find out what happened to my great-aunt, her husband, and daughter. Her name: Beatrice E. Bletsoe, born in Caterham, Surrey, England. His name: Adalbert F. Roye, born ? where ? They married in England and their daughter Marjory was born there. During WW1 Adalbert was a internee on the Isle of Man. They emigrated to Germany. I know that at one time they lived in Braunschweig. Does anybody know something to help me? I am hitting a brickwall with surching for my ancestors in England and Australia, so now i want to look in Germany.
    Please help me!

    Hi,

the Stadtarchiv (town archive) Braunschweig has a "Meldekartei" (register of residents) until at least 1928 and from 1945 on. I couldn't quickly find out if they also have the Meldekartei of 1929 to 1944, or if it is lost. Their email is stadtarchiv@braunschweig.de.

    Good luck,

    Heike

        Hallo Heike,

        Danke!
I had German lessons at school and passed the exames, but it got lost
over the years. You are the best, thank you very much for your information.
If, you find anything, would you let me know?
        Have a nice weekend!

          Hello,

          Viele dank!
That's just one of the words i rembember from my German lessons.
I sure will look there. If, you find anything else, would you give me a reply?
It is very likely that Adalbert was a kellner. What i find a little bit strange, is his surname, it does not strike me as a German name. They married in 1911 in Brighton, England. Beatrice (nick-name Jacky) was born in 1886.
I do not know why and when they went to Germany.
          Greetings,
          Rozy :P

            Hi,

I had a look at the German phone directory (www.telefonbuch.de): There are 127 entries for Roye in Germany.

If the Stadtarchiv does have a Meldekartei for the time when they lived in Braunschweig, you can find out when they moved there, and when they moved away or died.

            Regards,

            Heike

              Roye

              Hallo Heike
Thank you for your information, but the trouble is, that i do not know anything about Adalbert F. Roye, other than you have told me, that he was a kellner. Don't know when and where he was born, don't know when he came to England and went back to Germany. That's the trouble
If you have any data the surch is much easier!
Thank you for your reply and enjoy your weekend!

                Dort sind ich wieder!
                I have found something
Adalbert F. Roye married Beatrice Bletsoe in 1911 and the next year
their daughter was born quarter June. She was born in England.
                Yippie!
Mayby i am on the way to find them.
I am a virgin on the internet, so it's no wonder that i could not find anything in Stadtarchiv.
Just keep on trying, that's what i have to do.

                  Hallo Rozy,

the Meldekartei itself is not available on the internet; the Stadtarchiv just has a list of materials they have, that's where I saw that they have the Meldekartei at least until 1928 and from 1945 on. I would suggest that you write them an email, and tell them that you would like all information from the Meldekartei about Adalbert F. Roye and his wife Beatrice. There is probably a fee for this, maybe 5 to 10 Euros (ask them). If they have the Meldekartei for the time he lived there, they should at least be able to tell you when he moved away or died.

                  Have a nice Sunday,

                  Heike

I have received some more information about the adresses were my grand-aunt Beatrice Ellen Bletsoe married to Adalbert F. Roye. Beatrice Ellen was born in Caterham, England at November the 11th 1885, their daughter was born in Brighton at May the 29th, 1912. Staatsangehörigkeit is Prussian. Their religion was protestant. The paper i have says: 1919 they lived in Meuschau, Leonhardstrasse. My German is very, very bad, but it seems that Margerete (Tochter) died around December the 16th 1925, Breitestrasse 21. In 1920 Margerete had her eigene Registerkarte. The papers are difficult to read, because it is handwritten. Adalbert was born in Merseburg. At December the 30th 1885. Is there anybody on the messageboard, who can help me to find out more?
