Belgian looks for German ancestors

Hello, I am a Belgian with German ancestors. And I would have liked some help in finding info about my ancestry. Probably the ancestry is situated in Magdenburg. But so far, I have not been able to find much info on this.

On X Simon's deed, there is the note 4.11.04 each time and also (presumably) H R 179/24 next to it. What is the significance of this?

Could the date "4.11.04" be the mother's birth date? You wrote "November 1904".

My guess for H.R. 179/24 is that it indicates the marriage record of the child's parents in the civil registry books. Record no. 179 of 1924 in the "Heirats-Register". After all - the first child was born in 1924.

Hello Vanholle,

in the documents you attached you can also find the address of the family at the time of the event. In Germany, after moving to a new place people have to register at the "Einwohnermeldeamt". The old files of the Einwohnermeldeamt should have been preserved, unless they were destroyed during the war. They can be very useful in my experience, as they contain not only addresses, but also place and date of birth or death. I would suggest you write to the Stadtarchiv Magdeburg (archiv@magdeburg.de) and ask for a copy of the "Meldekarte" of the family. Include the names of the parents, and when they lived at which address (one address suffices; this is just so that the family can be identified in case several families with the same name lived there).

Can anyone confirm with certainty that the mother's date of birth was noted in the margin?

The other issue with ‘H R 179/24’:
The only problem is that this register is not available online. On Ancestry is ‘Magdeburg, Deutschland, Heiratsregister 1874-1923’. This stops in 1923.
And presumably it is 1924 that I need. Could this still be found somewhere?

Judging from the other entries in the register, usually the date of birth of the deceased is noted on the side.
Thats obviously not the case here because the child was born dead already.
I would also guess that 719/24 is the register number of the marriage register entry.
Its allegedly not available online so you would need to write the archive to get a copy of it.
