Ich hätte gerne gewußt wo unser Name "Knechtl" herkommt? Wer von euch kann mich weiterhelfen!!? :lol: Danke im voraus.

im Duden Familiennamen findet sich zu Knechtel: Standesname zu mhd. knehtelin, >Knäblein; kleiner, geringer Diener, Knecht<.

Im Bahlow, Deutsches Namenslexikon, Ausgabe 1985 kannst Du lesen: Knecht, Knechtel, Knechtli, Knechtges, wie Knabe u, Knappe auch = Geselle, Gehilfe, vgl. Schmiedeknecht, Tuchknecht (-knappe); ferner Ackerknecht, Wagenknecht, Kleinknecht, Barfknecht, Gut-, Liebknecht usw.

At out website www.knegtel.tk you'll find the descendants of KNECHTEL's from about 1500. In some cases the familyname changed from KNECHTEL into KNEGTEL (Dutch and Belgium family) and into KNECHTLI (Swiss family). As far as we could find alle the Knechtel's (938 persons), Knegtel's (353 persons) and Knechtli's (458 persons) you can find them at this website.

Our family has his roots in the Elzas-Lotharingen (France). In the 11th century they had a lot of land in Rouffach. In this place there is still a Knechtelstrasse. After the 30 year war in the 13th century 2 Knechtels went to Bohemen and their descendents spreaded to many countries (Holland, Germany, USA etc.)

One of my ancestors Joseph Christoffel Knechtel, was a merchant and on one of his trading adventures he came to the Netherlands (he transported pottery in a car pulled by 2 horses), where he married in 1746 with Johanna Cornelia Botermans. His name changed from KNECHTEL in KNEGTEL. His descendants live in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Is it possible that you go to our website and find out whether your family is also standing on this site? If not can you sent me the names, birthdate and place, deathdate and place, marriage date and place of your family, parents, grandparents etc. There is a great chance that you'll find your ancestors, because there are allready 938 persons in with the name Knechtel.
