    Hallo,

Ich bin ein Amerikan. Entschuldigung fur meine schlecte Deutsh. Ich verwende Google Translate.

Ich hoffte jemand mir helfen. Ich habe eine 'Brick Wall' in meinem Familien Baum.

    Name: Adam Stoderl
    Born: Aug 1848
    Emigrated: 1863-68
    Vater's Name: Johan?

    ===================

I have posted in the general forum and in the translation help forum. I am an American who is trying to break through a 'Brick Wall' in the Family Tree. I am looking for information on an emigrant named Adam Stoderl. My research has led me to believe that he was born in Bohemia in approximately August 1848.

So far I've been able to find 'Stoderls' in towns around Weissensulz (Bela nad Radbuzou). The towns with 'Stoderls' are: Pössigkau, Zetschin, und Widlitz. Alas, he has not appeared yet.

I am curious if there are any census records (or similar tool) that could help me find more towns with 'Stoderls' living in them. I've manually searched most of the surrounding towns' church books with no success.

    Hi Colin,
today I can provide you the birth enty of an Adam Stoderl in Staré Sedlo/Alt-Sattl # 49 on 15 Aug 1847.
Parents: Johann Stoderl from Zetschin and Elisabeth Trüber from Groß-Wonetitz
Marriage of them in Alt-Sattl/Groß-Wonetitz on 13 May 1845.

I did not make sure that Adam died or married later in this area, but it looks promising!

    Greetings, Peter

    Edit:
Marriage of the greatparents Georg Stoderl and Margareth Frapscha in Melmitz/Mělnice - Liebeswar/Libosváry on 19 Jan 1790.

      Fantastiche! Wundebar!

Great find! I've been looking since 2012 and (I think) you found him. I don't think Georg and Margareth Frapscha are Johann's parents. The marriage record says Margareth Lang. I'll keep researching through the books to make sure everything is ok. I'm curious if there are any emigration records from Bohmen for this period?

Peter, I'm so glad that there are people in the world like you who donate their time and energy to helping others. This is a lost piece of our American family's story and I'm so happy we finally have somewhere to start. I'll post over in the translation forum to let them know you found him.

Thank You Thank You Thank You,
      Colin Sorensen

        Hi Colin,
of course you are right with that!
Margareth Lang was from Troschelhammer in the Landgericht Kemnath, Troschelhammer is in Oberpfalz, Bavaria and there are no Onlinebooks available (Bistum Regensburg). The competent parish is Pressath.

And I even do not find the birth entry of Johann in Zetschin ...
Maybe the marriage of Johann and Margareth Lang was in Pressrath.

Here is an additional online-resource for Zetschin/Čečín -> Urbář 1757 der der gräflich Trauttmannsdorfischen Fideicommißherrschaft Hostau (Adam Stodel)

        Greetings, Peter

Yes, it is a mystery where Johan was born. I assume the Stoderl family in the geburtsbuch are cousins. I'll have to look in the surrounding parishes.

Is it possible to email the Pressath parish? Alternatively, here in the states there are often local history groups that will research for a fee. Is that a thing in Deutschland?

Finally, is there a template for the 1757 Urbař? I'm having trouble interpreting the headings.

Sorry if I'm asking too much.

Thank you again for all of your help,
          Colin
