      Hello,
The meaning of the German word "Gütler":
an owner of a little farm

It comes from the German words "Gut" (= farm) and "Gütlein" (= little farm)

Today, the words Gütler and Gütlein are not used anymore in the German language

Today we use the word "Kleinbauer" (little farmer). He has a little farm. That's not a short man.

      Best regards

"Gütler" is probably translated best as "owner of a smallholding",

ie a farm big enough to support one's family, but not much more.

          Thank you: Anna Süss baptism

What a wonderful surprise to see my great grandmother's baptismal details. This makes my day to have learned the names of my great-great grandparents! I will spend time familiarizing myself with this new online resource Matricula. I very much appreciate the assistance interpreting the German language as well. Bless you all. Plattlinger

Franz Xaver Süß - his parents marriage record

Do I understand this correctly... you have located the marriage record for Franz Xaver Süß parents: Cajetan Süß & Franziska Wolf of Niederpöring ?
I have difficulty reading this record. Can you tell me the exact date in 1830 of this marriage? Does it include any birth dates?
I so very much appreciate the time you are putting into this.

                              Hello Steffen & gki,

Forgive me as I learn to navigate my way through the forum and take time to digest all this fascinating new information you are locating for my mother and I. To clarify, you have located the marriage record for the parents of Franz Xaver Süß: Cajetan Süß & Franziska Wolf of Niederpöring. Correct? If so, these would be my fourth great-grandparents. Unbelievable.

Would there be a date for this special marriage? Am I seeing 27 Apr 1830? Or any other dates of interest noted here? Very difficult to read, but I think I’m noting 22 Feb 1810 … possibly a birth date of either bride or groom? I applaud you for having the ability to read this writing. Amazing really.
