12./Jag-Rgt. 207 "Russland" - fotos von militärischen Bücher.

Good morning,
I'm looking for information about my fallen grandfather, his name was: Wawoczny Ludwig. Unfortunately, he did not return from the war, and his fate is unknown for our family. I am seeking a list of fallen soldiers. Where I could find the place of his burial, or the place where he died. I would like to know what were his fate and where he is buried. The person I'm looking fought battle in the basin of the River Kuban, in a military service last entry reads: vermisst 12./Jag-Rgt. 207 "Russland"

born 20 november 1920 Kochlowitz (Ruda OS, Kr. Pless) (in polish Kochłowice, Ruda Śląska)
died 27 september 1943 Kuban (most likely, I am looking for confirmation and the grave)

I ask you for help in identifying possible lists of the fallen and information about the regiment. I would like to know what were his fate. The person I'm looking fought battle in the basin of the River Kuban, in a military service last entry reads: vermisst 12./Jag-Rgt. 207 "Russland"

I enclose a detailed battalions where he was? can someone explain to me with your individual entries from battalions (Appendix 1), in Annex 2 is the information that is fallen?

Thank you.

Hi,

well, first of all his Rgt. was under the command of the 97th Jäger Divsion. As you can see here: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/.../JReg207-R.htm
the JReg207 fought at the Kuban Bridgehead and on October 8th passed over to Crimea as one of the last remaining regiments. So it seems, that he most likely died in that area (also see map in the link above).
The microfilm rolls with daily reports from the 97th Jäger Division still exists and they might give you a clue about the situation around the 27th of september '43, but will most likely not contain any names of fallen soldiers.

P.S. In this Thread here one suggests 4 books about the 97th Jäger Division. Maybe thats another option to look into.

Thank you my friend for the fast response. Do you have any idea where I can check microfilm rolls which you referenced ? Do you is there any war cemetery in this region ~Kuban ?

In the pictures number 7588 and 7587 are handwritten entries, is there anyone of you who can read them?

If anyone is having trouble with polish language and entries written in polish, please let me know - I would help. I'm a member of Silius Radicum - polish upper silesia genealogy assosiation.

Well, there's the next problem. These microfilm rolls (called NARA rolls) are very costly (normally you buy them from the US NARA archive for 200something dollar, but *alot* of them are available on some few FTP Servers for free - but its hard to come by).
Also it might be, that of all things no reports from your timespan (september '43) are available or even have survived the war. At least I couldn't find a rolls for that specific timespan in the list here: http://maparchive.ru/division/part6/...r-Division.pdf

So there is the possibility that you are out of luck here.
Maybe you could try a request at the WAST (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsc...ststelle_(WASt)) but be aware that an inquiry there might take a long time before you'll get an anwser - I'm talking about up to 2 years.

Hey thejonesh,

it's not directly related to your question, but there is some translated info on how to obtain military records etc. on this page.

Cheers!

Hallo

On the map, I marked the front of the defense of the 97 Yeger division from September 26 to September 29, 1943. The Russian explorer with nickname Odissey (http://www.litsovet.ru/index.php/mat...rial_id=532674) describes these combat actions in detail. In particular, he writes that the 97 Eger division occupied defenses along the northern shore of the Kiziltash estuary, the valley of the river Old Kuban (see the Russian map of 1941) to a point 3 km south-west of the village Wozrozhdeniye. 09/26/1943. The division repulsed several attempts by Soviet troops to cross the river Old Kuban. On September 27 and 28, the division did not conduct combat operations. Soviet troops attacked the positions of the division only on September 29 after intensive artillery preparation. On the night of September 30, the division retreated to the next defensive line.

viele Grüße
Igor
