    Hi,

My name is Deanna Clark Summers, I am researching my Schlappi ancestors. I know they lived in Germany and Bern, Switzerland. I believe my ancestor came to the US in 1774.

I'm looking for ancestors of Hans Schlappi. My 7th times Great Grandfather was Hans Georg Schlappi who came to America from Switzerland in the 1700's and changed the name to Slappey. I believe his father was Hans Schlappi born in 1669 ( in Meiringen, Bern, Switzerland) and died in 1766 (Bern, Switzerland). Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you. Deanna Clark Summers

    Hello,

on this site (http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-...e7eji&id=I6135) are some Schlepps (or Schlappis).

The earliest is Stephan Schlappi born 1605. They are from "the Kanton" Bern, too.

Here some information to Hans Schlappi:

    Hans SCHLAPPI
    * 16 December 1669
    † unknown

    Parents:
    Hans SCHLAPPI (* 28 October 1627 † unknown)
    &
    Katarina BALMER (* 26 Sepember 1626 † unknown)

    I found them on ancestry:

There you can find some more

    Kind regards!
    - Niclas

Mr. Witt thank you so much for the information. I use Ancestry and have found the same Hans Schlappi. I have Henrich (Moses) Schlappi (b. 1600) as his father (but no proof). I think that Stephan Schlappi could be Henrich's brother. Will keep researching.

        Okay,

I found him. His father was Melchoir Schlappi:

            Hi,

I made it for my family tree, too.
I think I can't help you anymore. That's too far away.
If you want to find something, just google their names!

            Kind regardes from Germany!

              Schläppi

              Hi!

Strange that your ancestor changed his name to "Slappey". "Shlappee" would be spoken as in Geman Schläppi.

To get sure about your ancestors I recommend to have a look in the Church Register in Meiringen where you find all christenings back to the 16th Century!

              bye
