Dear forum user,
I am doing genealogical research since more than 45 years. It started even before, already as a child when I was listening to my maternal grandmother (Margarethe Eva Derscheidt, born Persch) and made notes about her beautiful family stories.
My grandmother told me that this Mainz family (Derscheidt, coming from Ober-Ingelheim) is descendent from the Hugenottes, but I have disproved it later with my research. My ancestor Ludwig Derscheid (as dress maker and shooter in the Grand Armée) “emigrated” during the times of Napoleon from Horrweiler to Thionville. At this time Rheinhessen was part of France, so that he stayed in France. Later he came back to Horrweiler with his french wife and his numerous children which led to the family tale - generations later – of French derivation, even Hugenotte derivation.
A part of the stories of my grandmother was not a tale: the above mentioned Ludwig Derscheid had a son and a cousin of this son (Philipp J. Derscheid. *03.02.1827 in Ober –Ingelheim, + 31.12.1889) was living and buried in Eagle Crowe, Iowa, USA. Thanks to the internet I could find descendants of this Philipp Derscheid, but could not make contact as the email address did not exist any more.
From the internet I picked the line (freely available) from Philipp Derscheid, over Heinrich Derscheid (1863-1937), Robert Derscheid (1908-1987), Ronald Robert Derscheid (*1940) to David Benjamin Derscheid (*1977).
Every generation has numerous children, so that there are existing many decendants who I did`nt capture yet.
Now I would like to ask you for help, dear users: Who is researching for Derscheid or Derscheidt, here in the forum or in the States and could make some contacts for me? In case you could send me some lines of descendants I would send you (and them) my Derscheidt genealogical table going down till ca. 1585 with our common ancestors, at no charge of course.
By the way: The American Derst, Darst and Durst families have the same Derscheid ancestors from Dörscheid near Kaub, this is officially legalized.
I am looking forward to many US requests and lists of descendants, many thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Karl Heinz Jochim
